Friends from Fukushima

From March 23rd till 31st, our friends from Koriyama, Fukushima  are staying in Hokkaido. We interviewed Ms. Suzuki in April and September on the video and asked her if she could come around our premiere together with some children whom she is taking care of on the after-school program. Now 2 boys and 2 girls and 3 adults are staying in Hokkaido.

They first came from Tomakomai to Niseko and thanks to the kindness of Hokkaido Tracks (Thank you, Greg) they spent two nights at the luxurious condominium. Mr. Fukamachi, my old friend and guitarist had a mini-concert for them and everyone enjoyed comfortable music.

Kids enjoyed skiing next day, while the adults went to eat soup curry and just relaxed in the condo. The happiest moment was that Mt. Yotei appeared for a short while to welcome them.

On 26th and 27th, they stayed in Yoichi where Mr.& Mrs. Fujii kindly offered the place in the self-built log house. Outside was a slope suitable for sliding and two dogw welcomed them. The kids again enjoyed snow as much. Lunch on 27th some neighbors gathered with some dishes cooked with Hokkaido products and exchanged opinions. In Fukushima, talking about nuclear power plants is rather delicate matter and people tend to avoid that, we hear. For dinner Kei, 10-year-old boy helped to make ‘soba’ sith Mr. Fujii.
